The 2010 ATV On Demand 450cc ATV Motocross Shootout Compares nearly every aspect of the Yamaha YFZ450R, KTM 450SX, Can-Am DS450X MX, Suzuki LTR450 and the Polaris Outlaw 450MXR giving the viewer all of the necessary information to choose which machine is a winner for them. To measure the true race ready performance, the manufacturers were allowed to make a very limited number of performance enhancing modifications to eliminate horsepower robbing restrictions and make the machines race legal.
In part one of our shootout we will compare specifications, horsepower, weight, contingency programs for racers as well as stock and as tested pricing, Next you will have to watch part two of our 450cc Motocross Shootout to see how the machines compare on the MX track.

Our test of the 2010 Yamaha Grizzly 550 with power steering left us surprisingly excited about Yamaha’s mid bore full size 4x4. It’s light and nimble like a small bore, yet comfortable, controllable and plush like a big bore. With a motor whose performance is somewhere in between, the Grizzly 550 with power steering is one of the best all around utilities we have tested.

The 2009 Kymco Mongoose 300 has strong usable low end power, a well tuned CVT transmission and stable handling make it a fun to ride beginner machine. While not quite perfect it is as viable an option as any machine in the small displacement fully automatic sport quad ranks. Watch the test and see if it is the right machine for you.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the 2009 Polaris XP 850 with power steering and for good reason. Lots of usable power combine with excellent suspension and good ergonomics to make the XP 850 one of the most comfortable and easiest to ride twin cylinder big bores on the market. While it is a bit heavy Sportsman XP’s handling and motor proved to be more then a match for its large size and stature.
