new front and rear suspension settings and new construction Maxxis 22-inch front tires providing increased comfort and superior handling.

Yamaha, the best-selling sport ATV brand in the U.S.*, continues to push the limits of performance in the sport category with the 2015 Raptor 700R pulling approximately 10 percent more power this year from its fuel-injected 686cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine.

To reach the increased output along with improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, Yamaha gave the Raptor’s 700-class power plant a new cylinder head, increased compression ratio (10.0:1), a new exhaust system, updated valve timing and fuel injection mapping. For 2015, Yamaha has also incorporated a D.I.D. X-ring drive chain with added durability.

Power makes the Raptor the top big bore, but it is the addition of superior handling and comfort that makes it one of the best sport ATVs of all time. Yamaha improved these aspects on the 2015 model as well with new front and rear suspension settings and new construction Maxxis 22-inch front tires providing increased comfort and superior handling. The Raptor 700 (non-R) receives many of the same performance updates for 2015 – offering superior performance at an extreme value – $500 less (MSRP).

“Yamaha, year-over-year, has committed to furthering the sport ATV market and as such has dominated by bringing new and improved models like the Raptor 700R,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV and SxS group marketing manager.

The 2015 Raptor 700R will come in a new Yamaha Blue/White color scheme with and an MSRP of $8,199–no price increase over the 2014 models. ASpecial Edition model with unique black-white plastics and red painted frame plus GYTR heel guards and front grab bar will also be available for $8,799 MSRP. A standard (non-R) version Raptor 700 in Yamaha Blue/White has an MSRP of$7,699.

The new Raptors will be available this fall and are being assembled at the U.S. factory in Newnan, Georgia.

2015 YFZ450R

I2015_yfz450r_first_look_left_frontn 2014 the YFZ450R received big power gains and improved handling.

In 2014 the YFZ450R received big power gains and improved handling and is now being produced at the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC) in Newnan, Georgia, for worldwide distribution

The  race-ready YFZ450R is the highest performance, most technologically advanced sport ATV on the market combining a high-tech, quick-revving, titanium five-valve, 449cc fuel-injected engine with a lightweight, professional-caliber cast aluminum-steel chassis.

The YFZ is the industry’s first assist and slipper clutch on a stock Sport ATV. This technology reduces clutch lever effort by approximately 25 percent, increases clutch plate pressure for positive engagement, reduces the engine braking effect allowing for faster cornering – particularly when downshifting – and allows the suspension to absorb bumps better during braking. All combined, this new Sport ATV technology makes for less rider fatigue especially during long motos and all-day trail rides.

The YFZ450R incorporates Yamaha’s Fuel Injection for precise fuel delivery. With a big 42mm Mikuni® throttle body and 12-hole injector, this system provides exceptional atomization of the fuel for maximum power. The system also includes Idle Speed Control (ISC) for easy, reliable start-up and warming.

The body configuration allows plenty of  space for aggressive racers to shift their weight on this highly rider-active vehicle. The seat is narrow in the front, while wide and padded in the rear with the rear fenders providing the smoothest side-to-side transitions in hard, fast corners. The popular quick-release fasteners provide for no-tools installation and removal of the front and rear fenders.

The wheels have been designed with the inner lip rolled in. This increases the rigidity, allowing a reduction in weight while maintaining strength. The wheels are set for motocross-spec width at nearly 49 inches for great cornering. Its Maxxis® tires are designed to help provide excellent handling, sliding control, and traction. At 20 inches in the rear and 21 inches in the front, they provide much better ground clearance than the competition – a benefit on rough tracks and trails. The YFZ gets excellent stopping ability, from dual front hydraulic disc brakes and a lightweight wave-type rear rotor.

The YFZ450R has large diameter, aluminum tapered handlebars that reduce vibration and are mounted on four way clamps for adjustability. There are two sets of holes in the handlebar crown and the eccentric clamps so the rider can choose the standard setting, 10mm or 20mm forward, or 10mm back.

The heel guards provide more room and are positioned close to the chassis for a slimmer feel, while the vehicle’s foot pegs are a generous 2.6 inches wide providing grip and stability even on tough terrain.

The front KYB® shocks with 9.8 inches of travel and Kashima™ coating are longer for increased suspension stroke with superb bump absorption and excellent anti-bottoming characteristics.

The frame is a combination of aluminum and steel for the best balance of light weight and rigidity. The frame member under the engine is steel, used for its combination of strength and low profile. This allows the engine to sit at its lowest possible point for excellent mass centralization and unmatched handling. The aluminum frame is bolted together, rather than welded, for maximum durability.

The front frame is as narrow as possible at the A-arm mounting points. This dramatically increases the A-arm length, which reduces changes in camber as the suspension travels through its full range of motion. The  front KYB® shocks with 9.8 inches of travel and Kashima™ coating are longer for increased suspension stroke with superb bump absorption and excellent anti-bottoming characteristics. The rear swingarm with 11 inches of travel is crafted of strong, gravity-fed aluminum, and it is matched to a fully adjustable 46mm KYB® piggyback shock absorber for excellent handling.
